In response to continual instances of vandalism and dangerous activities at the local stadium, Wapakoneta City Schools has implemented an additional layer of security at Harmon Field.

Starting June 1, all entrances to the Harrison Street stadium will be locked, and members of the public can gain access via an electronic key fob system that the school district has purchased.

“Our goal is to let people use it,” said Mike Watt, director of operations for the schools. “We don’t want to keep people out who are using it for the right purposes. It’s to control the vandalism and so forth that we’ve had going on in there."

Members of the public can obtain a key fob at no charge with a valid driver’s license. They must also sign a waiver that contains a list of agreements they must follow while in possession of a key fob.
