Woman charged with murder is deemed incompetent to stand trial

A Dublin woman was found not competent to stand trial Monday in Auglaize County Common Pleas Court.

Karen Fontenot, 54, accused of murdering Joe Hunter, 56, of St. Marys in early October, has been found not competent to stand trial, based on a forensic intellectual disability report that had been ordered by the court.

The court determined Fontenot will spend the remainder of her life in the custody of the Columbus Developmental Center and the county will maintain jurisdiction on the case. The court will receive a report on Fontenot every six months from The Ohio Department of Disabilities on her condition and treatment process. She will be transferred to Columbus Developmental Center from Auglaize County Wednesday.
