Astronaut's wife kicks off community read

The spouses of today’s astronauts may have more cachet — and say — with NASA than their predecessors, but those are the women who blazed the trail today’s spouses find themselves on in modern times.

Simone Thomas, wife of Astronaut Don Thomas, spent Monday in Wapakoneta, sharing her story with area residents, visiting local businesses and touring the Armstrong Air and Space Museum as the guest of the 2019 Celebration Committee. Thomas was invited to share a more contemporary view of her experience as the wife of an astronaut in comparison to the wives featured in “The Astronaut Wive’s Club,” the story by Lily Koppel that was chosen as the Community Read entry in the activity that kicked off at the first of the year.
