The weather outside may be frightful, but that won’t stop the Children’s Hometown Holiday from marching forward.

There have been a couple precautions taken, however, according to chairwoman Elaine Poppe.

“Well, I just don’t know about the weather,” Poppe said, of the forecast that is calling for rain both Friday and Saturday. “So we did move the camels to the TSC garage. It’s OK, the simulators aren’t coming this year so that worked out. Those cushions (camel riders sit on) would be OK in the snow, but they’ll just get soaked in the rain. And the cars, they’ll be in a tent off Perry Street.”

Children’s Hometown Holiday always has a a lot of balls in the air this close to kick off but the weather is an uncontrollable aspect to the three-day event. Many of the activities are indoors; the outdoor activities might be soggy but more than likely will go on as scheduled if the weather is uncooperative.

Events begin...
