Flu season has arrived and the Auglaize County Health Department is ready to distribute vaccine shots to help protect local residents from the illness.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends annual shots for everyone ages six months and older.
Last season was considered a high-severity flu season by the CDC, Auglaize Health Department Director of Nursing Brenda Eiting said.
The department measured hospitalized cases; last season there were 65 while there were 36 the year prior. The numbers are not entirely reflective of how many people were infected with the flu, Eiting said, as the department only tracked hospitalized cases in Auglaize County.
