The Auglaize County Board of Elections on Wednesday voted to raise compensation for precinct election officials and voting location managers.
It takes some 200 people to man the precinct locations for an election; all workers receive training. The new compensation will be $125 for Tprecinct election officials will receive and $155 for voting location managers.
Precinct election officials previously received a $102 stipend and voting location managers received $117.
“We wanted them to at least be making minimum wage for a 15 hour day,” Michelle Wilcox, director of the board of elections said.
The board also decided to reduce the number of voting location managers to be more in line with state regulations. At the Auglaize County fairgrounds in Wapakoneta, there will be three VLMs instead of 10. The state requires at least one voting location manager per location.
