Auglaize County corrections officers, Auglaize County Sheriff's Deputies and members of the Auglaize/Mercer County Grand Lake Task Force launched an investigation after a female brought a large amount of heroin into the Auglaize County Jail.
Jamie L. Clay, 30, of Richmond, Kentucky, was arrested by the Ohio State Highway Patrol for an outstanding warrant for failure to appear out of Wood County.
Corrections officers saw Clay throw something in a garbage can and, after checking, discovered it was a plastic bag containing what they suspected to be drugs, which Clay had hidden in a body cavity.
“It doesn't happen often that someone brings drugs in,” Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon said. “But it does happen. Corrections officers begin the investigation before bringing deputies in. The task force will assist if necessary.”
