Judie Presar was a cheerleader in high school, “and she’s still a cheerleader today,” and her enthusiasm for promoting her home town led the Women’s Civic League of Wapakoneta to name her their 2018 Citizen of the Year.
The award rendered Presar speechless, “and that doesn’t happen,” she laughed. “Thank you so much; I’m overwhelmed.”
Cindy Dennis announced the award during the organization’s monthly meeting Tuesday, and said the committee charged with naming a winner kept coming back to Presar.
“If you read the paper, you see her name again and again; she volunteers for everything,” Dennis said, noting Presar grew up in Wapakoneta, raised her family here, co-owned a shop downtown and is currently a vendor at Casa Chic, and is active with the Downtown Wapakoneta Partnership.
