Committee satisfied new tax monies are protected

Wapakoneta Auditor Wilbur Wells showed them the money.

“I’m satisfied the half-percent income tax is protected,” Finance Committee member Chad Doll said Monday during city council’s Finance Committee meeting.

Jim Neumeier concurred.

“I think we should recommend to council to pass (the ordinance) as written,” he said.

The ordinance in question would allow council to authorize spending $91,355 to purchase 8.436 acres of land to develop a road in the West Central Ohio Industrial Center as part of the Pratt Industry paper mill project that will be built south of Wapakoneta. The road will create access to the rest of the Job Ready Site as well, Mayor Tom Stinebaugh said.

The ordinance was on the agenda as emergency legislation at the April 2 city council meeting but was never introduced when...
