Monday, April 9 was the official deadline for voter registration for the spring primaries, now just a month away.
Ballots for the May 8 election are all set, from local to federal races, so here's a sneak peak at what will be on your ballot when you step into the voting booth next month.
Auglaize County Commissioner
Sitting Commissioner Doug Spencer is running for re-election, and is facing challenger and St. Marys Mayor Patrick McGowan in the Republican primary. The Democratic ticket is empty, effectively handing the position to the winner of the primary. Spencer is seeking a fourth term in the office in order to rejoin John Bergman and Don Regula. McGowan was elected as Mayor in 2012.
Governor and Lieutenant Governor
Current Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor and former Proctor and Gamble executive Nathan Estruth are running to replace the term-limited Gov. John Kasich, and will be facing off against Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and Sec. of State Jon Husted to claim the Republican ticket. The Democratic race is much more crowded, with former Ohio Supreme Court Justice Bill O'Neill, State Sen. Joe Schiavoni, former director of the Consumer Protection Agency and Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray, former U.S. Rep. and Mayor of Cleveland Dennis Kucinich, Larry Ealy, and Paul E. Ray all contending for the right to appear on the November ballot. Green Party candidate Constance Gadell-Newton is running unopposed.
