Donation will assist Special Response Team

The Auglaize County Sheriff's Office has a brand new tool in their belt, thanks to the support from a local business owner.

Jim Harrod, the owner of J & L Power Equipment in Wapakoenta, donated a STIHL TSA 230 battery powered cut-off machine for the law enforcement agency's Special Response Team.

The lightweight, saw-like tool–which can cut through metal–will prove useful for many situations, and will make life easier for Sheriff Al Solomon and his team.

"We can't always get the equipment we need. We have to use the equipment we come up with," Solomon said. 'One of the biggest ways we get extra equipment is through donations from the public, so when people like Jim step up, that's just outstanding."

Harrod found out about the SRT's need after participating in the annual Citizen's Academy, then did some research to find the piece of equipment the would best suit the Sheriff's Office.

"A lot of SWAT and SRT teams have one, and Auglaize County didn't," he said, "so we decided to give them one."
