Catholic parishioners from all over Auglaize County gathered at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta on Sunday afternoon for a special service celebrating the feast day, Epiphany.
The service, Epiphany Lessons and Carols, featured a program filled with songs, featuring the St. Joseph Bell Choir and Adult Choir, as well as readings from members of the congregation.
“It’s a revelation, a realization,” Adam Fahncke, Director of Music at St. Joseph, said about the feast day. “The main purpose of Epiphany, when you think about it in the church, it’s the story of the three wisemen. They’re told by King Herod to go see the baby Jesus, and when they follow the star and finally get to Jesus, they have the realization that Jesus is the king.”
The musical pieces and passages chosen centered around this idea, serving as a de facto extension of the Christmas season.
