Agencies ready for more snow

It’s been awhile, but the local area finally saw a white Christmas.

Enjoyable as it is to look at, the white stuff demands caution while driving and diligence on the part of those who must keep our roads safe.

Both County Engineer Doug Reinhart and Wapakoneta Safety-Service Director Chad Scott said their crews are up to the task and both agreed there is no certain amount of snow that must fall before the plows hit the road.

“There’s not a specific amount,” Reinhart said. “It really depends if the snow is light and blowing across the roadway or staying on the pavement to create a hazardous condition.”

Scott said the main roads are the priority.

“When it starts to get slick out, we concentrate on the main roads, then switch to the residential areas,” Scott said.

The county has 350 miles of roadway that the engineer’s office is responsible for. Reinhart said they also...
