Wapakoneta has a new mayor and a new auditor and the city’s replacement levy for recreation passed.

With 8 of the 8 Wapakoneta precincts in, Republican Tom Stinebaugh was the winner in the mayoral race against Democrat incumbent Rodney Metz. The total was 1,572 to 1,292.

Stinebaugh said his first priority is hiring a new safety-service director.

In the auditor’s race, Republican Wilbur Wells was victorious over Democrat incumbent Gail Walter. The unofficial total was 1,913 to 846.

Recreation Department Director Jack Hayzlett was pleased with the results of the replacement rec levy, and not surprised by the 1,730 to 1,079 win.
