The Wapakoneta Fire Department has added a new name to its roster.

Jared Phillips officially joined the department three weeks ago and is undergoing training to familiarize himself with the department and the community.

A native of Sidney, Phillips graduated from Anna High School. He received his post-high school training at Sinclair Community College. A level-two firefighter and paramedic he has worked for departments in Trotwood, Vandalia and with Medtran.

Phillips lives in Troy with his wife and two sons, who are ages 6 years and 7 weeks old. In his off time, he enjoys working out, lifting weights, hunting, fishing, target shooting and being with his family.
