WAPAKONETA, OH
Wapakoneta High School band students spent their Saturday morning at Mercy Unlimited.
The students sorted and cleaned items that had been donated. Band Director Klayton Hilleary said he's wanted the band to do something community service related like this for around six years.
About 35 students and parents volunteered their time from 9 a.m. to noon. For Hilleary and his students, it was important to give back to the community.
“The community supports us through fundraisers, and if we have any special events that come up, the community helps us out, and we just wanted to come out and give something back to the community and expect nothing in return and just be good citizens basically,” he said.
