Demo derby driver taken from fair in ambulance

A Demolition Derby participant at the Auglaize County Fair was taken away from the event in an ambulance Thursday evening.

The driver was struck and apparently collapsed inside his vehicle.

Members of the New Knoxville Washington Township Fire Department and other derby officials rushed to the driver's vehicle. They removed him after a few minutes, and one firefighter was seen giving the man chest compressions after he was placed on a stretcher.

A Wapakoneta Fire/EMS ambulance drove onto the track and transported him away from the fairgrounds.

The derby continued shortly thereafter.
