The recent tragedies in Dallas and Baton Rouge with law enforcement officials left many Americans heartbroken, including those in the Wapakoneta Police Department.

Shortly after the tragedy in Dallas, the department wore blue mourning bands in support of their fallen brothers. It was also around this time that they started to receive many examples of support from the community.

“We’re real thankful that our community is backing us up,” said Police Chief Russel Hunlock, “A lot of times this is a thankless job and we are just embracing the support and we’re very thankful to know we have their support. We don’t really hear about it or we don’t really see it, its just been phenomenal.”
