Jade L. Miller, 34, of Wapakoneta, received the maximum sentence of 11 years in prison today for running over and therefore causing the death of her boyfriend, Michael R. Angel, of Lima, on Sept. 1.

Judge Frederick Pepple of the Auglaize County Common Pleas Court divulged details from a pre-sentence investigation that was done. Pepple said Miller told the PSI writer that she did not mean to hit Angel, even though she pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of involuntary manslaughter, which indicates that she "knowingly caused serious physical harm to another."

As a result, Pepple said he believed Miller has not accepted responsibility for her actions and, therefore, ordered the maximum sentence. Miller will also have to pay for the costs of Angel's funeral — which was a total of $7,608.

The remainder of charges on the indictment — two varying counts of murder and one count of aggravated vehicular homicide — were dismissed as part of the negotiated plea agreement.
