Thanks to the help of Boy Scout Troop 777, out of Shawnee Alliance Church, Auglaize Acres' property received some sprucing up.

As an Eagle Scout Project, David Hirschfeld, 18, raised money to beautify the area around the benches near the gazebo in front of the facility. He presented the project Wednesday morning at the Acres. Bushes and flowers were taken out and replaced with new plants and flowers. The dirt was made level and mulch and bricks were added, as well as a stone bird bath and turtle.

Acres Administrator Kim Sudhoff said she is appreciative of the work put into the property and that it will be enjoyed for years to come.

Through the use of a GoFundMe page online, Hirschfeld was able to raise $620. The project at the Acres cost around $400. The rest of the money, $212, was presented to Sudhoff and the Acres Wednesday morning. Also on Wednesday, he was presented with a certificate of appreciation from the Auglaize County Commissioners.
