WAYNESFIELD — Firefighters were dispatched to the 17000 Block of Moyer Road, at the crossroads of state Route 67 and Fairmount Road, for a fully engulfed barn fire.
The call was originally made to the Wayne Township Fire Department, and they then called in the service of fire departments from Uniopolis, St. Johns, Lakeview and Westminster.
According to Fire Capt. Kendall Harrod of the Uniopolis Fire Department, the fire departments were called to the fire around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. The barn, which was full of hay and miscellaneous equipment, was a complete loss. As of right now there is no determined cause for the fire.
Capt. Harrod reported that there was lightning in the area but it is unknown as to whether or not that was the cause of the fire.
