Police investigating "suspicious item"

According to scanner traffic at about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday evening, authorities including the Wapakoneta Police Department were stationed near the intersection of Lima and Wood streets in Wapakoneta to investigate a "suspicious item," a bomb squad was called to the scene and at least two residences in the area were evacuated.

Just before 9:40 p.m., scanner traffic indicated residents could return to their homes, and the perimeter of the scene was being reduced in size.
