This year’s Auglaize County Fair will be seeing some unique culinary talent through some of its specialty shows, including French cooking and homemade wine and beer.
Lawrence Kill, who is the chairman of this year’s baking contest and homemade wine and beer show, said both are specialty shows, which are aside from the main culinary contests taking place July 31, the first day of the fair. Both shows will take place Aug. 3, Wednesday night of fair week, in the Fruit Hall, with judging at 7 p.m.
The two categories for the baking contest are “Your Best French Main Dish” and “Your Best French Dessert.” All entries must have a recipe, and entries will be accepted until Aug. 2, the Tuesday of fair week. Exhibits must be in place by 7 p.m. Aug. 3, when judging will take place.
Kill also said the homemade wine and beer show, which debuted during last year’s fair, will be returning this year. Last year’s show was quite a success, he said.
Anyone interested in competing should send entries to Lawrence Kill or the Auglaize County Fairground Office. For more information on the shows, contact Kill at 419-394-2579 or via email at lak54@bright.net.
