After about eight years in school, one local man is well on his way to becoming a Roman Catholic priest.
David Doseck, 26, of Botkins, was recently ordained as a “transitional deacon,” which means he will be ordained as a priest after finishing one more year in formation for the priesthood come May of next year.
Born and raised in Botkins, Doseck grew up attending Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Botkins, and he said a turning point in his life occurred when he went to a retreat at a monastery through his church when he was a sophomore in high school.
Over the weekend of May 28 and 29, Doseck had the opportunity to come back and assist with a service in his home parish of Immaculate Conception. Given his status as a deacon, he was able to assist the priest and deliver the homily in front of his family and friends.
“It was a nice moment to be able to look out and see all my friends, family and everybody that supported me all these years and be able to be humbled to be able to offer a little reflection for them as they go on their week and their journey of living in the faith,” he said.
