Update: Hit-skip crash victim's name released

According to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the name of the pedestrian killed in a fatal hit-skip crash Wednesday has been released.

Emily Rempe, age 14, of St. Marys, was in the eastbound lane on County Road 33A, when she was struck by an unidentified dark colored pickup. The vehicle continued east on County Road 33A without stopping. The accident occurred at approximately 10:41 p.m. on County Road 33A near Barrington Road.

Rempe was transported by St. Marys EMS to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, where she later died of her injuries.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Auglaize County Sheriff's Office, St. Marys Police Department, St. Marys EMS and St. Marys Township Fire Department.

Next of kin has been notified.

The crash remains under investigation. The vehicle involved is reported as a dark colored full-size pickup truck with either a roll bar or smoke stacks in the back. Anyone with information about the truck or driver involved in the crash should call the patrol at 419-738-4324.
