The Wapakoneta City Council’s Parks and Rivers and Streets and Alleys committees met recently to get an update on the Downtown RiverScape project.

Committee members were aided by Engineering Superintendent Mary Ruck and representatives from Choice One Engineering and Garmann/Miller and Associates.

The overall plan features a 24-foot wide paved street that follows the path of the river on its south side, from Harrison to Blackhoof Street. The wall along the river would be lowered to allow for a new cap and railing on the river wall. Interpretive signs would be placed at each light pole along the wall.

A year-round shelter house with fireplace, stage and dance floor will also be featured.
