According to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Wapakoneta Post are investigating a three-vehicle injury crash, which occurred Wednesday afternoon at 3:19 p.m. The crash occurred on Interstate 75 approximately two miles south of Wapakoneta in Auglaize County.
Through the investigation it was found that a black 2009 Dodge Avenger passenger car was being driven northbound on Interstate 75 by Jadin Pauling, age 20, of Hamtramck, Mich. A white and green 2015 Volvo semi was being driven southbound in the left lane by Kenneth Bruns, age 60, of Tatamy, Pa. The third vehicle was a white GMC station wagon traveling southbound in the right lane driven by Kirstin Hedin, age 37, of Ham Lake, Minn.
The northbound vehicle drove through the grass median, for an unknown reason, and was struck by the semi in the left southbound lane on I-75. The Dodge Avenger spun around and was struck a second time by the white GMC Terrain traveling in the right southbound lane. All three vehicles sustained heavy damage and were towed from the scene.
Jadin Pauling had non-incapacitating injuries and had to be extricated from his vehicle. He was transported by St. Johns EMS to Lima Memorial Hospital.
Kenneth Bruns and Kirstin Hedin received minor injuries; however, they were not transported.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Botkins Fire and EMS, St. Johns Fire and Rescue, Auglaize County Sheriff's Office, Ohio Department of Transportation and Auglaize County Emergency Management.
Seatbelts were in use by all occupants involved. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, although drug impairment is being investigated. The crash remains under investigation.
Both lanes of Interstate 75 were shut down for approximately 81 minutes and the scene was cleared at 6:07 p.m.
