A Minster man has been indicted on a charge connected to a standoff earlier this month.
James W. Hoskins, 38, was indicted on one count of inducing panic, a fifth-degree felony. Hoskins appeared in Auglaize County Common Pleas Court on Thursday and was ordered held on a $75,000 with a 10 percent cash provision. He remains in the Auglaize County Correctional Center.
The charge stems from an incident that allegedly took place on May 3 at a residence just outside Minster. Hoskins allegedly held law enforcement officials at bay for more than four hours. The incident prompted responses from the Allen County Bomb Squad as well as special response teams from Auglaize and Shelby counties. Hoskins eventually surrendered to authorities.
“There has to be consequences for actions that force a response from numerous agencies and numerous resources," Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon said in a news release. "There are other ways to deal with stressors in life other than making threats with a gun and explosives.”
