Council approves 5k, downtown event

Wapakoneta High School students MacKenzie Lange and Olivia Kentner came before council Monday seeking the city’s approval for a 5k walk/run to raise awareness of suicide prevention. The event would begin at 9:15 p.m. May 14 at Harmon Field, with registration beginning at 8 p.m. The goal is to raise funds to bring in a professional speaker to talk with students during the 2017 school year.

Landa Tomlinson and Ron Frey also appeared before council to announce an Arts in April event to be held April 23. An artist will be present in several downtown locations and behind town to promote the arts.
