Jennifer Zwiebel was recognized as a VFW teacher of the year on Tuesday morning. She teaches students in eighth through 12th grade who have emotional and behavioral concerns at Wapakoneta High School.
“I feel honored, but I feel really all teachers are deserving of this award because we work together as a team,” she said.
Zwiebel was nominated for teacher of the year by Director of Student Achievement Carrie Knoch. All students have been placed in her classroom because at one time, their behaviors and interpersonal relationships have negatively impacted their performance in school, Knoch said in her nomination letter. In some cases, the students have shown “explosive, threatening behavior,” she went on to say.
