WAPAKONETA, OH
The Wapakoneta City Council’s ad hoc committee that was created to explore the possibility of a lodging tax within the city met Wednesday afternoon.
A lodging tax, also known as a “bed tax” is added on the visitors’ hotel or motel bills. Council is considering a 3 percent bed tax to be collected to fund tourism-related projects within the city. Auglaize County already collects a 3 percent bed tax, with a portion going to the bi-county convention and visitors bureau and a portion distributed to local communities.
No timeline was given for development of that legislation, but the ad hoc committee noted the feasibility of having the tax in place by the end of the year.
