Art Center honors high school artists

Some of Auglaize County's best up-and-coming artists were honored on Sunday at Riverside Art Center, giving some of the local high school students a chance to see their art hanging on gallery walls for the very first time.

That includes Best of Show winner and Wapakoneta High School senior Rachel Lytle.

Lytle's charcoal piece, 'Horse,' took home the top prize at Sunday's reception, where it was honored alongside numerous other pieces from high schools around the county, including Wapakoneta, St. Marys, and Minster.

And it just so happens that the 2019 High School Art Exhibit, which runs until February 2, was the first show Lytle has ever entered.

"My teacher told me to submit it and I said, 'okay,'" Lytle, who has been drawing her whole life, said. "It's awesome."
