Judie Presar named citizen of the year

As soon as Tom Schlenker read those words, most of the people gathered in the St. Joseph Parish Life Center knew who was going to be named the 2018 Citizen of the Year.

Judie Presar fills the rooms she is in with positive optimism, and her leadership, kindness and compassion hold her apart from others, Schlenker recited as he read her nomination for the city’s top award. Presar is a “leader and a doer,” and is in-tune with the Wapakoneta community through her work with Wapakoneta Antique and Specialty Shops, the Downtown Wapakoneta Partnership, the YMCA, Facade Improvement Program and the 2019 Committee, most recently with the First Man Premiere Gala Committee, Schlenker said.

Presar said she was “surprised and humbled” with the Citizen of the Year designation.

“I’m privileged to be part of the citizens of Wapakoneta,” she said.
