German author guest of ACHS via Skype

Author and historian Alfred Wesselmann skyped in from Lengerich, Germany Sunday afternoon at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Wapakoneta to talk about his new book as part of an event hosted by the Auglaize County Historical Society.

Wesselman is a familiar face to many in Wapakoneta; he was part of the original Sister Cities program between Wapakoneta and Lengerich. He has stayed in Wapakoneta, and he has hosted some staying in Leichenburg, administrator Rachel Barber said.

In his new book, which translates to “Friend or Foe: Meeting the Stranger in Germany, Britain and the U.S. during the First World War,” Wesselman dedicates about 70 pages to...
