Patrol urges teens to take care during National Safety Week

This year, Oct. 21 marks the start of National Teen Driving Safety Week, and the Ohio Highway Patrol labels teen drivers as one of the most at-risk groups.

Teen drivers can get a bad reputation, but there is some data to show why that might hold true. A press release from the Wapakoneta Post of the OHP states that Ohio teen drivers were involved in 135,882 crashes between 2015 and 2017.

In Auglaize County there were 390 at-fault teen crashes in this period, which accounts for about 3.628 percent of the teen crashes within the state’s District 5. The county average based on the district total would be roughly 895 crashes per county.
