Kittens the star of story hour

A few furry friends joined in at Tuesday's Story Time read-aloud at Waynesfield's White Memorial Library thanks to the Auglaize County Humane Society.

Deb Logan, manager of the Humane Society brought two kittens, Steven and Damon, to show to children, while Branch Supervisor Pamela Kennon read pet-themed stories.

The partnership, which has been in effect for a number of years, also gives Logan and the Humane Society a chance to get the word out about their services, their supplies needs, and maybe encourage an adoption or two.

"This gets us out in the community," Logan said. "The kids get to see the cats and go home and tell Mom and Dad, 'hey, there are these great kittens at the Humane Society.'"

"It gets us some recognition out here," she continued, "and lets us spend time in the community."
