Minster speaker tapped for state competition

The people who gathered Saturday morning at the Wapakoneta Eagles Arie No. 691 heard several powerful speeches on what God, flag and country means to students.

At the Northwest Zone Level of the national God, Flag and Country speech contest, 13 students — ranging in ages from 10 to 15 years old — spoke to dozens of family, friends and Eagles members as well as three judges to determine which three students would move on to the state level.

Minster's Noah Walter (12-13 age group) is one of the three moving on.

"It means a lot," Walter said when asked how it felt to be moving on. "This is the first time I've moved on (to state). I was ecstatic when they said the second-place name and I knew there was no one else left."
