It's official: Apollo BOE hires Horner

The Wapakoneta City School District's search for a new superintendent officially opened on Monday night as current head of the administration, Keith Horner, was approved by the Apollo Career Center Board of Education to occupy the same position at the technical school.

Horner's contract, effective August 1, 2018, runs for three years, expiring in 2021.

He comes from Wapakoneta after nearly 13 years at the helm of the school district, and will replace Judy Wells, who has held the position at Apollo since 2009.

A unanimous vote from the 11-member board approved Horner's appointment.

The new post presents an exciting opportunity for Horner, one he says will be filled with plenty of new challenges.

“I’ve looked at Apollo over the years, so this is something I’ve always been attracted to, because in my mind, it’s really just a unique challenge for me,” he said. “I could go to another K-12 district and do some of the same things, but this will allow me to do different things, which will reinvigorate me in terms of my professional life.”
