It was a raucous afternoon at the Riverside Art Center on Saturday as the downtown Wapakoneta art gallery kicked off their Elementary and Middle School Exhibit with a little help from Ohio Northern University music students and the Lima Symphony Orchestra.
While area students and their families packed the gallery, the Ohio Music Education Association musicians showed off their skills, playing for the crowd, before turning it over to the event’s real stars.
They called it an “instrument petting zoo,” and it’s exactly what it sounds like.
The elementary and middle school students were able to get hands on, pounding on bongo drums and feeling out the keys on a saxophone and bassoon.
