It’s time to get back to basics at the Waynesfield branch of the Auglaize County Libraries.
Next week, the branch will be hosting a class, Life Skills 101, to help teach young adults some of the basic life skills that many young people now seem to lack.
Kennon, who will have the help of the library staff and a local volunteer, hopes to fill some gaps in the knowledge of young adults who soon might be striking out on their own.
“I don’t think young adults know how to sew on their own button, how to hem their own pants. I don’t feel like a lot of kids, maybe high school age, going into college aren’t prepared to balance their check books or how to properly set up a budget so their money stretches,” Kennon said. “Just like with the car, some kids and younger adults don’t know how to check their oil or their tire pressures to make sure everything is going alright with their car. I think that with all of the technology we often forget about these simpler things we ought to know.”
