Library lets the sun shine in

The Central Library Renovation Project at the Wapakoneta branch of the Auglaize County Public Library is finally underway after construction crews took over the south end of the building this week.

The project, which has been in the works for several years, is set to completely revamp the space that has gone largely unchanged since it first opened to the public in 1968.

On Tuesday, crews from Brumbaugh Construction of Arcanum took aim at the exterior walls, slicing through the 12 inch brick with a 30 inch circular saw, which will soon be home to two large windows.

Brumbaugh was awarded the contract after a competitive bidding process last year, and have even subcontracted out parts of the job to local businesses. So far, Director of the Auglaize County Public Library System Beth Steiner has been happy with how the process has gone.
