Jade L. Miller of Wapakoneta pleaded guilty in Auglaize County Common Pleas Court to involuntary manslaughter for her involvement in the death of Michael R. Angel.
The first-degree felony count of involuntary manslaughter came about through a bill of information filed this morning. She finalized the negotiated plea deal during a final pretrial hearing this afternoon by officially pleading guilty to the said charge.
She was originally indicted with one count of murder, no-degree, and one count of aggravated vehicular homicide, a third-degree felony, on Dec. 12. A second charge of murder was indicted against her on April 27, as an alternative way for the prosecutor to prove guilt. These charges will be dismissed upon sentencing, which will be held July 26 at 9 a.m.
Miller could face a maximum of 11 years in prison and up to a $20,000 fine.
Angel was struck by a vehicle driven by Miller on Brighthorn Street just south of North Street on Sept. 1, 2015. He died of his injuries the next day. Miller, 34, was arrested Dec. 18.
