The Moon City Community Worship Service made for one unforgettable first for Wapakoneta and for Harvest Baptist Church.
Hosted by Harvest Baptist Church in Heritage Park, Sunday’s service saw roughly 650 attendees, including non-Harvest members, park their lawn chairs right next to the Auglaize River for an outdoor service which wrapped up this weekend’s Summer Moon festivities. It was the first-ever community worship service to bear the name of Moon City and the first to be held as part of the festival for several years.
The service kicked off at 10 a.m. with contemporary worship songs by Harvest’s worship team. Senior Pastor Gary Bragg then had a special interactive opportunity for the children to teach them about the Bible story of David and Goliath.
During the service, Bragg said it was a neat first for Harvest to have a service in the park. The church stepped up to do the community service after a call from the Wapakoneta Area Chamber of Commerce looking for local churches to put it on.
