A St. Marys man was sentenced to prison time Friday in Common Pleas Court for charges relating to an assault on a corrections officer that happened in May.

Mark C. Zumbroegel, 47, of St. Marys, pleaded guilty to one count of assault on a corrections officer, a fifth-degree felony, and one count of aggravated menacing, a first-degree misdemeanor, on June 30. A sentencing was originally planned further out but was moved up to Friday due to Zumbroegel having self-harmed while being held in the Auglaize County Jail, County Assistant Prosecutor Andrew Augsburger said.

Judge Frederick Pepple sentenced Zumbroegel to a total of 12 months in a state penitentiary. Zumbroegel will get 70 days of jail time credit for the time he already served at the county jail.
