WAPAKONETA, OH
Bicycle safety is an important concern and the annual Bicycle Safety Day in Wapakoneta is designed to provide riders with the equipment and information they need to be safe on the roadways.
Bicycle Safety Day, now in its eighth year, is the brainchild of Wapakoneta resident Marlene Froning, who lost her son more than 30 years ago in a bicycle accident. He was nine years old.
This year’s Bicycle Safety Day will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the TSC garage on Willipie Street.
The free program provides children with a free helmet, a bicycle inspection and the ability to participate in a “bike rodeo,” in which they will learn traffic laws and proper riding techniques.
