The first day of the Charles Wycuff vs. The State of Ohio court case began Tuesday at the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas.

Wycuff is charged with 31 counts of rape, seven counts of gross sexual imposition, 15 counts of sexual battery and one count of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, which are all felonies. He has pleaded innocent to all charges. Wycuff’s charges stem from offenses allegedly committed from 1997 to 2003.

His crimes allegedly involve ex-wife Lori Anderson’s son. Anderson was also charged in the case. While initially denying the charges, she has acknowledged and pled guilty to four of the sexual and criminal acts she was involved in and has forgone a trial. As a result of a plea deal, 21 of the charges against Anderson were dropped.

Much of the day was spent questioning potential jurors. The 30 jurors asked to show up were eventually whittled down to 12, with three alternates.

The day wrapped up with each side of the case offering their opening statements.
