It’s once again time for the Auglaize County Crisis Center’s annual benefit auction at 5 p.m. Thursday in the Junior Fair Building at the fairgrounds. This year marks the auction’s 28th anniversary, and there is quite a lineup of auction items and events planned to help fund and support the Crisis Center.
The auction is the center’s largest annual fundraiser, and the money raised is key to keeping the center operating since it is a non-profit organization.
"The annual event is very important as funding for the domestic violence program is limited in nature," Crisis Center Director Shirley Longworth noted. " The Crisis Center serves both primary and secondary victim-survivors of domestic violence. Donations help and assist this agency and those survivors and breaking the cycle of violence that goes on behind closed doors."
A huge source of support for the center comes from first responder agencies in the county, and many agencies will be participating in the annual Secret Recipe First Responders Chili Cook-off.
