According to a news release, the Auglaize County Sheriffs Office responded to a reported shooting, west of St. Marys, in the Sandy Beach area. The reported shooting came in at 3:32am today, Feb 8.
Upon arriving in the 200 block of Pershing Dr., deputies located 36-year-old man Wesley A. Sweigart, of St. Marys, deceased inside the residence. While on scene, deputies took Stephanie L. Sweigart, 30, of St. Marys into custody. Stephanie L. Sweigart was transported to the Auglaize County Correctional Center and incarcerated on a charge of Murder.
Assisting at the scene was the St. Marys Police Dept., St. Marys EMS, Ohio Bureau of CriminaI Investigations and the Auglaize County Prosecutors Office.
Sheriff Al Solomon advised that although this incident happened early this morning, out of respect for the family, the Auglaize County Sheriffs Office will not release any
information until the Next Of Kin has been contacted.
The investigation is in the very early stages and deputies remain at the scene at this time. Chief Deputy Mike Peterson described it as an isolated incident and said the public was safe.
