Wright State University's largest faculty union notified the Dayton university's President and Board of Trustees of a strike notice filed with the Ohio State Employment Relations Board on Monday, which would begin on Tuesday, Jan. 22, a week into the school's spring semester.
While the main campus is an hour away, the strike would still have ramifications right here in Auglaize County, as the university operates the almost 1,500 student satellite WSU-Lake Campus along the shores of Grand Lake, just over the Auglaize-Mercer County Line.
Most full-time faculty at the university, both in Dayton and at the Lake Campus, are represented by the American Association of University Professors Wright State University Chapter (AAUP-WSU), which has been in negotiations with the university's administration over a new labor contract for more than a year.
