Some 50 Wapakoneta High School students stood outside the new Pratt Industries recycling facility on Industrial Drive Wednesday, waiting for the cement truck to show up. Despite the chill in the air and the outdoor setting, these students were waiting to see a real-wold application of the lessons they were just learning in the classroom.
Andy Haag of Wells Brothers Inc. of Anna arranged for the field trip with Ron Brown, vocational agriculture instruction at Wapakoneta High School after a dinner table conversation with his son Drew, a student in Brown’s class. Wells Brothers has been working at the new recycling facility for a couple of weeks.
“He was telling us at dinner about what they were doing in school, and I knew we were getting ready for a big pour out here, so I contacted Ron (Brown) and we were able to turn this around pretty quick,” Haag said.
